On February 26, 1993, a significant terrorist attack occurred at the World Trade Center in New York City. This tragic event marked one of the earliest major terrorist attacks on U.S. soil, preceding the more devastating attacks of September 11, 2001.

The Attack

  • Date and Time: The bombing took place on February 26, 1993, at approximately 12:17 PM.
  • Location: The attack targeted the North Tower of the World Trade Center complex.
  • Method: Terrorists detonated a truck bomb in the underground parking garage beneath the North Tower. The bomb was composed of approximately 1,200 pounds of urea nitrate-hydrogen gas.
